Glenn Starnes has 24 years experience with business computer applications and systems. His knowledge of operating systems include CP/M, AOS/VS, GEM-DOS, MS-DOS (all revisions) Windows 3.1, Windows 95/98/2000/XP, Microsoft NT Server 4.0, and Windows 2000 server. Mr. Starnes spent 19 of these years with the Northeast-Midwest Institute.
Mr. Starnes has dealt with all aspects of computer systems maintenance, management, and troubleshooting. He can install and configure computer hardware and software for optimal performance, free from viruses and spyware. He has managed a local area network (LAN) of four servers, including a Microsoft Exchange 2000 email/web server, and 25 personal computers. Mr. Starnes assembled and maintained all of these servers and desktop computers, provided training, troubleshooting, desktop publishing, database management, and electronic filing and backup. Mr. Starnes designed the Northeast-Midwest Institute's original web site, coordinated the redesign, and was responsible for most of the web site maintenance since inception in 1996.
Mr. Starnes currently contracts with the Northeast-Midwest Institute to maintain their economic and demographic data. Tasks include importing data, performing calculations and cross-tabulations of monthly and annual economic/demographic data, and exporting the data into tables for their web site. He also compiles the Institute's monthly Manufacturing Fact Sheet, a barometer of the U.S. manufacturing sector.
